walking & gazing & sometimes crying / mid-residency exhibition / fall 2017

this work dissects the intersection between nature and art & technology and analyzes the influence technology has had on the representation of our beautiful planet. it  explores ideas of travel photography and the presence of the tourist in visually stimulating places, examining the human condition while traveling and observing. it also questions the boundary between photography & art photography and establishes a challenge for myself to create profound imagery using a device that billions of people on this planet use every day.

every visual element of the piece was retrieved through my iPhone: videos, still images, and screengrabs.

this work was displayed for my mid-residency exhibition at California Institute of the Arts.
